Job Opportunity: Full-Time Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)
Location: Norfolk, VA
Compensation: $40–$42.50/hour
Schedule: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with weekends as needed
Facility Overview: 296-bed facility offering Skilled Nursing, Nursing Facility, Pediatrics, and Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) hospital services. Therapy services address a variety of diagnoses, including CVA, surgical complications, fractures, orthopedics, cardiac conditions, and vent patients in the LTAC unit. The facility fosters a collaborative environment with a supportive administrator and team-focused culture. Employees are included in facility activities such as ice cream socials, safety lunches, and holiday celebrations. Therapists typically see 10–13 patients per day during an 8-hour shift.
Position Summary:
- Evaluate and treat patients in their home or assisted living environments, focusing on functional goals.
- Develop customized plans of care addressing communication and swallowing disorders.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and referring physicians to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic techniques and adaptive comm devices.
- Participate in quality assurance and improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, plan, and implement therapy services for patients with diverse needs, including:
- Cognitive-communication
- Speech intelligibility
- Oral motor skills
- Swallowing disorders/dysphagia
- Functional communication
- Supervise CFYs, temporary licensees, and support personnel as applicable.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with department standards.
- Participate in patient care conferences and facility events.
- Ensure compliance with safety and ethical standards, including HIPAA and facility
Requirements:
- Valid Speech Language Pathologist license in Virginia or proof of eligibility.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA or ASHA Clinical Fellow el
- Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation to patient residences.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
